Prunus domestica ‘Jam Session’
This rich fruit “jazzes” up preserves, tarts and chutneys! Cornell has released this beautiful, heavily productive, small, freestone plum for the making of richly-flavored, Damson-style plum jam or sauce. Its parentage is open pollinated x Late Muscatel. The skin is bright blue and the flesh a greenish-yellow. Flavor is less astringent that its sister variety Blues Jam.
The tree looks beautiful in mid September, loaded with thousands of ripe blue fruit. Also called NY 111. Partially self-fruitful; plant with another European plum for better fruit set. Can lapse into biennial bearing if allowed to over-set fruit in its early years.
